The Best!

Time and time again I am reminded of the great community that makes up Grosse Pointe South High School. Last week our 9th graders took the Social Studies MEAP test. While other schools struggle to meet the required 95% participation rate our students show up ready to do their best! Out of the 436 Freshmen enrolled on October 20, only one student was absent for both the test and makeup test. This is remarkable!

The seeds of success are sown early on. Grosse Pointe parents instill in their children a love and deep respect for education. Through their ongoing support and high expectations they ready the way for their children's success. Grosse Pointe teachers not only teach their students facts, they teach them how to think, and how to apply what they've learned. With the steadfast support of the community, educational leaders, parents and teachers, students have no option but to do their best!

MEAP Testing

On Wednesday of this week, Freshmen students will participate in MEAP Social Studies testing. Please encourage your students to get plenty of sleep and to eat a healthy breakfast! Afternoon testers should be sure to eat a good lunch as well. South students tend to do quite well on this exam. Reassure your students that with a concerted effort they will surely perform well on the exam.

Students with the last name A through Koehler will test in the morning during periods 1 & 2
Students with the last name Koelsch through Z will test in the afternoon periods 5 & 6
There are several students that will test in the library.

Students will test in four locations: Field Gym, Girl’s Gym, Cafeteria, Library

Students should check the wall in the first cross hall by Mrs. Murphy’s office to locate their test site. (This is a new location for the lists. The lists used to be posted by the Counseling Office.)

The morning session will begin at 8:00, and run to approximately 10:00. After materials are collected and accounted for, students will be released to their 3rd period classes.

The afternoon session will begin with the start of 5th period at 12:24, and will run until approximately 2:30. After materials are collected and accounted for students will be released to their 7th period classes.
